Every spring, volunteer docents work with Sagadahoc County 4th graders in the communities of Bath, West Bath, Georgetown and Woolwich, delivering a program about historic architecture, featuring house models for getting “hands on” and identifying examples in their own neighborhoods. Students discover the prominent features of Colonial, Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Georgian, Temple Style, Shingle Style, and Gothic buildings.

We teach elements of style and vocabulary that serve our students well. Upon completion of these lessons students have a new awareness of their surroundings and appreciation of the wonderful buildings that are part of their everyday lives.

Though the program is geared toward young people, it may be appropriate for other groups as well. Please contact us at info@sagadahocpreservation.org for more information.
