Songs to the Lute & Viol

  • Sagadahoc Preservation Inc. 880 Washington Street Bath, ME, 04530 United States (map)

You are invited! On Friday, June 14th at 7pm (pre-concert talk at 6:30pm) to a special concert to benefit Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc. "Songs to the Lute & Viol: Courtly Ayres, Songs from Shakespeare, Historic Ballads, Fancies & Dances." Admission is FREE but a donation toward the ongoing preservation of the Winter Street buildings is encouraged! The concert will take place in the Parish Hall at the Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St., Bath, Maine.

More about the event: Go back in time in the beautiful Winter Street Parish Hall, with music from the world of Queen Elizabeth I and William Shakespeare, including popular continental favorites—French courtly airs and Italian dances, as well as traditional Appalachian ballads rooted in the British Isles. Works of John Dowland, Pierre de Ronsard, Clément Janequin, Shakespeare himself, and the always fascinating “Anonymous.”

Featuring SPI's friends and neighbors Ronn McFarlane, lute; Danielle Svonavec, soprano; and Mary Anne Ballard, viola da gamba. This will be a night to remember! Please join us for a musical event so fitting for our space, and for our City of Ships and benefiting our beloved Winter Street.
